School Information

Save the Date for Grandparents and Special Friends Visiting Day
Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to join us on Tuesday, November 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a dress uniform day and a half day of school. Attend a special Thanksgiving Assembly at 8:05 a.m. in the MPB, visit your grandchild's classroom, and enjoy refreshments in room 15. 
Complimentary valet parking will be available on Huntington Drive. Please turn in the RSVP flyer that went home with your child. We look forward to seeing you!

8th Grade Fire Relief Fundraiser
Students are collecting donations on campus for fire victims with the proceeds donated to the United Way. Visit their table beside Transportation. Please donate by November 20.


7th Grade Candy Drive Success
Students collected over 130 lbs. of leftover Halloween candy, several tubes of toothpaste, over a dozen rolls of dental floss, and toothbrushes. These items were donated to Operation Gratitude for servicemen and women overseas as well as here at home-a small, but sweet way to say thank you.

How to Subscribe to the School Calendar: 

Method One:
From the Clairbourn.org website, click "Calendar" in the upper right hand corner. Click "Grid View." Scroll down and click the green button with the arcs on it. That will subscribe you to the main calendar. If you would like more specifics, such as homework assignments for your middle school child, follow method two.

Method Two: 
Login to CougarNet by clicking the "login" button on the Clairbourn website. Once logged in, click "Calendar," then click the button above the calendar on the right-hand side with the arcs on it. A pop-up window will appear, which will give you several options for what calendars you wish to subscribe to. Watch a brief how-to video here
 
To Receive Notifications from Teachers and More: To change your CougarNet settings to receive notifications on new posts and messages, click on your name in the upper right-hand corner, then pick "Settings" from the drop-down menu. Click "Notifications" on the left-hand side. Select what notifications you would like to receive and how you would like to receive them. If you would like to receive text messages, make sure to enter your phone number in the appropriate spot at the top of the page. Watch a brief how-to video here. Please DO NOT uncheck the "Bulk Mail" box. If you do, you will stop receiving emails from the school. 

Annual Fund Update
Clairbourn's Annual Fund kicked off on October 12. Our goal is 100% participation in 100 days. Please pledge or donate by February 1, 2019. All gifts are 100% tax deductible. For your convenience, here is a link to donate onlineYou may also drop off a check (payable to Clairbourn School) to Development Director Dr. Janny Chang (Administration Office, 2nd floor). 

If you donate by Friday, December 7, you will be automatically entered to win 4 front row seats to this year's Christmas Program of your choice, plus a parking space. 

Annual Fund Donation Levels to Consider:
Life Benefactor - $20,000 and up
President's Circle - $10,000 - $19,999
Founder's Circle - $ 5,000 - $9,999
Trustee's Circle - $2,500 - $ 4,999
Head of School's Circle - $1,000 - $2,499
Cougar Circle - Up to $999

Support Holiday Giving For Charity
Starting Tuesday, Nov. 6, choose an angel ornament from the Christmas tree at Transportation to donate a gift to a child in need.  Gifts should be brought in unwrapped with the angel ornament attached to the gift.  We suggest buying a gift in the $20-$25 range chosen from the child's wish list written on the back of the angel ornament.  

Your generosity will benefit the Foothill Community Unity Center, a charity serving homeless and low-income families in the San Gabriel Valley. All gift donations are due Friday, Nov. 30.


Teacher Appreciation Group Gift Card Program Starts November 1
Every Holiday season the CFA organizes a gift card drive to make it easier for parents to show their appreciation. 
The Group Gift Card Program allows you to participate in a class gift for your children's teachers and to acknowledge other members of the Clairbourn community who interact with you and your children outside the classroom.
 
Employees select Scrip gift cards they would like to receive, and families contribute toward the purchase of those cards. Gift cards are distributed directly to the employees. Talented Musicians, Jake and Jaleen T., Perform With Los Angeles Children's Orchestra
Jake and Jaleen T. (in Grades 6 and 7) auditioned and were selected to act in a commercial for American Family Insurance under director Todd Field, which will be aired in 25 states. Mr Field was so impressed with their performance that he asked them to perform with the orchestra which was made up of members from the Los Angeles Children's Orchestra, many of whom also performed at Carnegie Hall and on America's Got Talent. Young Entrepreneurs Give to a Pet-Worthy Cause 
Hayden Y., Emily K., and Akira T. (in 3rd grade), founders of Paw PEEPs, donated proceeds from their Entrepreneurial Fair booth sales to the Pasadena Humane Society. Their contributions will go towards providing animals in need with food, shelter, and medical attention.

Toyota Symphonies for Youth 
The Toyota Symphonies for Youth invite children ages 5-11 to soak up the sounds of a world-class orchestra while experiencing the thrill of a live performance. Kids enjoy hands-on workshops, including art-making, an instrument petting zoo, and dance. Join us for a morning of musical celebration that will stay with children for a lifetime. These specially designed programs featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic introduce children and their families to the world of classical music.
