Important Reminder:              
School Uniform Requirements
Only uniforms from Lands' End may be worn. Please write your child's name on the tags of each clothing item, especially outerwear, to ensure its return if lost. Read about Uniform Requirements here.

Please also note that sweatshirts and jackets must conform to the Clairbourn uniform look. Newly purchased outerwear is required to have the Clairbourn Crest. All other sweatshirts are prohibited except on Free Dress days. Please plan ahead for cold weather when purchasing uniforms.

Introducing Our New Student Council Reps
Student Council Class Representatives, for the first half of the school year, are sixth-graders Dylan W., Brian X. and Vanessa H., seventh-graders Matthew R. and Kaylie S., and eighth-graders Aidan S. and Chelsea C. They join the four officers elected last May, Cyanne J., Secretary, Matthew C., Treasurer, Kennedy K., Vice President, and Isabel C., President. Sincere appreciation goes to all the students who ran for the election, and we thank them for their willingness to serve Clairbourn School!

CFA Information

Special Lunch Ordering
Special Lunch is an important part of the CFA's fundraising. Special Lunch happens every Thursday and on the 1st and 2nd Tuesdays of each month. We kindly ask that you place your order three days prior to the lunch date to ensure your child will receive their special lunch.
 

Parent Help Needed for Special Lunch Days
We need you! As part of the CFA, we are looking for your assistance to help serve lunch to our kids in the back parking lot. Each grade is assigned a month during the school year. Please sign up with your child's grade so that we may continue to provide this special treat for the kids.

CFA Parent Meeting for September
Join us on Tuesday, September 11th at 8:30 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building (MPB) to learn how you can get more out of your own Clairbourn experience by volunteering! Build your parent support system, showcase your skills, and experience Clairbourn traditions.The Volunteer Opportunities Fair will give you a chance to meet with the CFA event chairs and learn about opportunities to get involved at Clairbourn.

Benefits to you: There are many benefits to volunteering such as meeting other parents and their children, using your professional skill sets, becoming an integral part of the school family, modeling a spirit of service for your children, giving back to the school, and so much more.

Clairbourn's Head of School, Dr. Patzlaff, will also speak on the topic of "The Exciting New Year." Delicious refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you there! Download the flyer here.

Entrepreneurial Fair Event
Calling all entrepreneurs! Students can sign up to rent a booth (only $20) at Clairbourn's 5th Annual Entrepreneurial Fair on Friday, Oct. 19th. Students may sell any items they create, make, cook, build, or grow: arts & crafts, inventions, baked goods, plants, etc. Learn more about it here.

Time to Order Scrip
CFA is now accepting Scrip orders!
CFA supports the school by selling scrip cards to be used at many food and retail business. Order forms are due Friday, September 21st. Use this form to order Scrip. Parent Volunteers Needed at Cougar Corner Store
Parents, volunteer to work at Cougar Corner for some 1st quarter shifts. Choose to work as little as one day a week from 2:45 pm to 3:30 pm from 09/14/2018 - 11/2/2018. All volunteers will be trained, get free day care for their children during their shift, and receive free beverages and snacks. Cougar Corner Account
Parents, please provide funds for your child's Cougar Corner account. Cougar Corner is the snack shop that opens right after school where students can buy drinks or food. Visit the Clairbourn Online Store to fund your child's Cougar Corner account.

Congrats to Top Competitor Valen S. 
Valen S., in 3rd grade, competed in the "2018 Progressive Position Pistol (PPP) National Championship" this past July.  He trained in "10 Meter Air Pistol," which is a competitive sport in the Junior Olympics and Olympics.  

This was Valen's first competition and he was the youngest competitor by several years. For his category, he won a silver medal for the Western United States. In the combined National Championship, he placed 5th in the nation. Valen also competed as a team with two other competitors where they won a gold medal for the Western region as well as a gold medal for the United States. Overall, Valen scored 756 points to earn his silver medal, putting him just four points behind first place. 

Valen's advice for other kids participating in competition is "Be confident, do your best, and be humble."

Bravo, Singer Kennedy K.
Kennedy K., in 8th grade, has been performing with the Los Angeles Children's choir since she was eight years old. Her most recent performance was with the L.A. Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. Kennedy was selected to perform among an elite group of 40 out of the existing 400 members of the LACC. They joined the L.A. Philharmonic to perform two pieces from Carmina Burana, including the famous "O Fortuna."
