|
Free Dress Days:
Clairbourn students are allowed to wear non-uniform clothing on regularly scheduled free dress days (usually Fridays) throughout the school year. Consult the calendar for specific dates.
On these days, students may wear non-uniform clothing which is clean and in good repair. They may not wear clothing advertising alcohol or tobacco or displaying slogans or illustrations unsuitable for younger children.
Clothing must not be excessively tight, short, or distracting; leggings or very tight pants may be worn ONLY if shorts or a skirt is worn over them. All tops must have sleeves-no spaghetti straps or tank tops. Jeans in good repair are acceptable, as are sweatshirts and t-shirts. For safety reasons, shoe regulations for free dress days are the same as for regular dress days (see below).
|
Additional Regulations:
Shoes:
For safety reasons, shoes must be appropriate for school activities. As a safety measure, Crocs and similar shoes are specifically prohibited.
Hair:
Hair must be clean and combed, and should not interfere with vision. Neither hair style, hair color, nor hair accessories should constitute a distraction to other students or to classroom work.
Jewelry:
Jewelry should be unobtrusive and not a distraction to learning.
Caps/Hats:
Caps or hats may not be worn indoors.
Makeup:
Very light makeup maintaining a natural look will be allowed for seventh and eighth grade girls only.
|
PE Uniforms:
In grades 4-8, students wear a regulation PE uniform every day except when swimming. Required and optional PE items must be purchased from the same Lands' End site where uniforms are purchased-follow the instructions for ordering school uniform items. Students must bring these items with them on the first day of school.
Required PE Uniforms for Boys and Girls, Grades 4-8

Grey heather essential t-shirt with "Cougars" logo on the front and a white box below it (on which they should write their name).
Bottoms:
Navy athletic PE shorts with a white box (on which they should write their name).
Outerwear:
Lands' End crew neck pullover sweatshirt with Clairbourn crest (logo).
Optional:
Other PE wear is also available from Lands' End, including hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants with the Cougar logo, and a track suit with an embroidered Cougar logo. Students may wear these optional items in PE during the colder winter months.
Students must change out of their PE uniform before returning to class or going to transportation. With prior approval from the Athletic Director, sports team uniforms may be worn in class on game days only.
It is extremely important that each student accept responsibility for his/her PE uniform, including taking it home each Friday for laundering and returning it to school on Monday. Students are required to provide and wear athletic shoes and socks with the PE uniform.
Swimsuits:
During the first and fourth quarters, if it is above 72 degrees on the pool deck and the water temperature is at least 78 degrees, students in grades K-8 will participate in swimming during their PE period. Swimming is an important part of the K-8 curriculum and all students are expected to participate in this activity.
Swimsuits should be marked with both first and last names. Clean, dry towels are provided and swimsuits may be left at school for the week. Grades 4-8 should take home their swim suits on Friday for laundering and then returned on Monday. Grades 1-3 swim suits are left in a bin in the classroom and should be monitored for laundering needs during the swim season. F
or hygienic reasons, students are not allowed to swim in their PE uniforms or other street clothing. They must have appropriate swim wear. They may wear rash guards or other t-shirts/shorts over their swim suits if those items are meant for swimming or are made out of "dry fit" materials or other light, synthetic materials that dry quickly. Any items worn in the pool should not be part of the student's daily PE wear. No cotton t-shirts.
For girls not wearing a shirt on top of their swimsuit, their swimsuits must be one-piece athletic style or tankinis covering the midriff.
