Chicken Eggs Hatch in Kindergarten

Kindergarteners at Clairbourn have been watching chicken eggs incubate and hatch in their classroom. Two baby chicks emerged from their shells on February 25 to the delight of parents and students, with the rest of the chicks arriving shortly after. The hatchlings will go to a small family farm in the area after they grow bigger. A good book about chickens and their varieties is "Who You Callin' Chicken?" by Thea Feldman. Find the book on Amazon.

A Big Mahalo to Event Co-Chairs Claudia Jubilado, Charis Alzona-Hsu, Bridget Paciorek, Vivian and Terry Xu, and Ting Sung

Everyone had a great time at the Clairbourn Luau! We had luau dancers, music, a photo backdrop and booth, food from L&L Hawaiian BBQ, shaved ice with a rainbow of colors from KianaKai Hawaiian Shave Ice, and there was a craft table where keiki (kids) could make leis and frames to take home.

The fun continued with a hula show where Morgan King, Che Wang, and Kyron Millard got into a hula competition! Mr. Millard was the ultimate winner and his prize was to dance with one of the professional Hawaiian dancers. What a show!

And we can't forget the limbo competition and the opportunity drawing with lots of fun prizes! Once the lights went down, kids of all ages and their parents got their groove on with their flashy, glow-in-the-dark leis, glasses, bracelets, and shark fins pulsing to the beat.

Boy Scouts Learn Fire Safety

Boy Scouts are always learning about safety, and Den Outings to public safety providers are important. They can earn patches from Boy Scouts of America for police station and fire station visits where they can meet first responders and ask them questions. On these visits they meet firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians and see the equipment used to keep their neighborhoods safe. Safety lessons are taught as an empowerment tool for Boy Scouts. Fire safety is one of the subjects that scouts can study. The Cub Scout motto is "Do Your Best." For Boy Scouts, the motto is "Be Prepared." Everything they have learned on this visit reminds them to do their best to be prepared to keep safe.
