The Engineering Design Challenge - The Building and Testing Phase

This week 1st – 8th grade students are participating in a week-long Engineering Design Challenge. Engineers from Skanska, a world leading project development and construction group, explained to students how the structure of a suspension bridge works and also discussed a project of theirs right here in L.A. - the 6th Street Viaduct Replacement Project. Following the presentation, students went to work on their bridge designs and assembly with guidance from our visiting Skanska engineers.  Today, students did their last test runs and tomorrow after Morning Assembly we will hold the final test challenge for each grade.

Join Us for the Engineering Design Challenge Finals Tomorrow in Lieu of the Community Coffee

Tomorrow students will put their final designs to the test and will see how much weight their suspension bridges can hold. We invite you to join us for this exciting event and to celebrate in the students' hard work and innovation this week. The final design test will take place in the MPB directly after Morning Assembly. We hope to see you there!
