Building Gratitude
At Clairbourn, gratitude and an appreciation for the good around us are not just celebrated during Thanksgiving but are integral to our daily lives. Our cherished Thanksgiving Assembly brought the community together for this meaningful tradition.
Preschool and kindergarten students added their own special touches to the celebration by crafting pumpkin cake, turkey hats and festive placemats. After enjoying snack time, the JPK, PK and K classes delighted everyone with songs including the Turkey Hokey Pokey, Five Little Turkeys and more. Be sure to check out more photos on Vidigami!

When History Inspires Innovation

Revolutionary War-Themed Design Challenge
In history class, the 8th grade has been studying the causes and events that led up to the Revolutionary War.
One such event was the Boston Tea Party, and in science class, the 8th graders were recently challenged to a special 8th-grade-only Drop Everything & Build activity relating to that infamous protest.
After reviewing the causes of the protest, the 8th graders were tasked with building a device that could keep a tea bag dry for the longest period of time in a tub of cold water. The engineers were given craft sticks, wax paper, tape and yarn, and were guided by Betty Tang, Bea and Teddy's mom, who gave advice and encouragement based on her experience as an engineer.
All the engineering teams were successful, and none of the devices started leaking tea for several hours! In the end, Fiona and Malena earned an honorable mention for keeping the tea bag dry even though their device came apart, and the winners were Jerry and Teddy, who kept the tea bag dry until well into the next day!
Cougars, each of you exhibited perseverance, ingenuity and creativity. We are proud of you!

Little Things That Brighten Our Day
Mrs. Smith's third-grade class earned a special reward for their outstanding behavior, achieving 25 class stars through excellent listening, following directions, and displaying respectful behavior. Just before Thanksgiving break, the students kicked off their shoes, laid out picnic blankets, and enjoyed a picnic lunch on the lawn!
Mrs. Smith brought Krispy Kreme donuts as a sweet surprise for dessert. The students enjoyed the opportunity to relax on the lawn, smell the fresh air and spend quality time together. It was a magical experience they hope to repeat soon!
Let our third graders inspire us to cherish the simple things in life that make us smile! |
