Clairbourn Insights
Immersing in the Wonder of Science
In 6th grade science, students learned about the factors that affect weather. To find the dew point temperature, students cooled down a can of water until condensation finally formed. The dew point that day was very low, so there definitely would not have been dew on anyone's lawns in the morning!
In 7th grade science, students learned about the parts of a cell and how they work together. The processes of diffusion and osmosis move water and other materials into and out of living cells, and the 7th graders observed the effects of this movement by putting potato slices in salt water and distilled water. There were big differences in the potato cells after just 24 hours.
These experiments not only helped students explore scientific concepts but also fostered curiosity and critical thinking. By engaging in hands-on activities, students gained a deeper understanding of how science applies to the world around them, sparking a lifelong interest in learning and discovery.

Unleash the Magic of Halloween at Clairbourn
Halloween at Clairbourn was a day filled with tradition, music, and festive fun!
For over 15 years, it’s been a beloved Clairbourn tradition for the Clairbourn Band to kick off Halloween morning at the assembly with a spirited performance.
This year, the band delighted the audience with an arrangement of This Is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas by Danny Elfman, and the song Grim Grinning Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland, with music by Buddy Baker. The performance brought plenty of enthusiastic audience interaction! In
addition to the music, students and faculty embraced the
Halloween spirit with a lively costume parade showcasing
their creativity and excitement for the season.
Thank you, Clairbourn Band, for a spectacular performance, and to everyone who made this Halloween one to remember! Log in to Vidigami to view and download more photos! Please email Mrs. Zamora for Vidigami support.

Dia de los Muertos
Día de los Muertos is a vibrant celebration that originated in Mexico, designed to honor our ancestors and recently departed loved ones.
The holiday was marked by an array of autumnal colors, festive food, celebrations and the creation of an "ofrenda" – an altar adorned with photos of our cherished family members, friends and loved ones.

Preschoolers and Kindergarteners Early Learning STEM Event
Our youngest students, from JPK to kindergarten, have been hard at work preparing for their Early Learning STEM event, happening next week. This year's theme is The Three Little Pigs.
Students have been learning about different types of buildings—hotels, apartments, castles, houses, huts and more. They even took a walk to the Manor House, where they observed architectural details and sketched what they saw. Now, they’re challenged to build the strongest house.
What kind of structures will they create? Stay tuned for updates!

Native American Heritage Month — Navajo Code Talkers
Did you know the Navajo Code Talkers played a crucial role in WWII? Chester Nez, one of the original 29 Navajo Marines, helped create an unbreakable code that confused Japanese forces, aiding the U.S. victory in the Pacific. Ironically, he had been punished as a child for speaking Navajo. In 1942, the Marine Corps recruited Navajo-English bilinguals, seeing the language’s complexity as ideal for secure coding.
Nez and his team faced hardship, working nonstop for days without food or rest and keeping their mission secret for 23 years. Once, he was nearly shot by American soldiers at Guadalcanal who mistook him for the enemy.
In 2001, Nez and the Code Talkers received the Congressional Gold Medal from President George W. Bush, honoring their indispensable service. Today, we’re grateful for heroes like him who protected our country.
Thank you to the Student Council for bringing us the first in a series of special presentations at the Morning Assembly in honor of Native American Heritage month.

Clairbourn Gift Policy
Gratitude is always welcome, but a gift is never necessary. A kind note, a genuine thank you or a word of gratitude is always meaningful.
Clairbourn has a stated gift policy for all employees:
• Employees may only accept gifts and/or gift cards that have a value of $100 or less.
• Employees may accept a gift and/or gift card of over $100 only if it is a collective gift and each individual’s contribution is $100 or less (i.e. the Scrip Gift at the holidays and end of the year).
Please help us by following this policy. If you feel you must do more than the note or word of thanks, please consider contributing to the group scrip gifts at the holidays and at the end of the year. Please do not put any employees in an awkward situation by ignoring the policy. If an employee receives something of higher value, the excess must be returned or will be donated to the school.
Thank you for helping us create an inclusive environment!
