Creating a Safe Learning Environment

Dear Clairbourn Families,

As we get closer to the presidential election, it is important to remember our Clairbourn Code of Ethics and its place in guiding our speech and actions on campus. As a school, one of our core values is Citizenship. As a school, we teach our students about the processes of government, the citizens' responsibility to vote, and the importance of making choices that align with one's own values. As a school and faculty, we do NOT tell the students who to vote for or share our personal political views.

We also have a value of Respect. This means we teach the students about how to share our own opinions and how to listen to others with an open mind and a respectful tone.  We teach them not to criticize or belittle others for their beliefs. We help them disagree without being unkind or disrespectful.

We need your support at home too. Students will take in what they hear the adults in their lives say and then use the same language here at school. It can be easy to forget the children are listening to a lot of adult conversations, and they do take it all in. Help your child understand there are many points of view and it is okay for others to have different opinions.

As we work with our students on these things, we also ask that you support our community standards for maintaining political neutrality. In the handbook it says, "Students may not wear clothing advertising alcohol, tobacco, politics or displaying slogans or illustrations unsuitable for younger children." Please help us maintain our neutral environment by leaving the political clothing or accessories at home.

We appreciate your help in maintaining a respectful and positive environment here on campus!

Celebrating our rich culture diversity!

Thank you to our parents for organizing a wonderful Hispanic Heritage presentation during Morning Assembly. We loved learning about the many influential figures who shaped history. Great job, Cougars, for sharing these stories with the community!

Donde haya un error que enmendar, enmiéndalo tú.
Donde haya un esfuerzo que todos esquivan, hazlo tú. Sé tú el que aparta la piedra del camino.”
