From Head of School

Our new adventure — the 2024-2025 school year where the possibilities are endless!

Dear Clairbourn Families,

I am so excited to see everyone next week! All summer, we have been working on the campus and have repaired, renovated and refreshed close to every part of our eight acres. It is ready for you! The heart and soul of what we do is about the students. I can't wait to see the smiles and hear the laughter they bring to campus. I am also excited to see the parents at our CFA-sponsored coffee on Wednesday morning (our first day) following Morning Assembly. Both reunions of old friends and introductions to new ones are important and exciting. So please join us!

On our first few days, please arrive early so parking is easier and drop-off goes smoothly. If you wait until 8:00 a.m. to arrive, you will be in a long line of cars. We all need to be patient and calm. Remember, safety is far more important than time. Please follow all driving laws and be courteous to our neighbors by not blocking intersections or driveways.

I hope you are ready for our new adventure, the 2024-2025 school year where the possibilities are endless. Let's start this year with a fresh look at our potential and remember to approach this year with a growth mindset, knowing we are all capable of learning, growing, improving and progressing. I am looking forward to seeing our returning families and meeting our new families next week!

Student Cell Phone Policy

Clairbourn is a phone-free space to improve teaching and learning.

Students in preschool - 5th grades MAY NOT bring
any personal electronic devices to school, including
but not limited to games, smart watches, tablet
computers, laptop computers, wireless headphones,
e-readers, and cell phones.

Middle school cell phone
policy is as follows:
Students may bring a cell phone
to school but it MUST BE locked in
a Yondr pouch during the school.

Yondr has been implemented in over 1,000 schools across 21 countries to facilitate an engaged learning environment. It utilizes a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone.

Every middle school student will secure their phone
in a personally assigned Yondr pouch when they
arrive at school each day.
Students will maintain possession of their phones and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day. Students are responsible for their pouch during the school day.

If there is an emergency or time-sensitive information your child needs and you would like to get in contact with your child, please call Clairbourn directly at 626-286-3108.

In an effort to best serve our students, we appreciate your full support in respecting Clairbourn's cell phone policy and the adoption of the Yondr Program at our school. If you have any questions please contact the Assistant Head of Schol, Mrs. Taylor.

A Note From the Library

To Fourth to Eighth Grade Parents:

While the deadline has passed for 1st full week of school delivery, book orders will still be accepted through August 28th. These books will be delivered to the students as soon as they are received in the library.

An optional activity offered to our 4th-8th grade students during the Book Fair, is an opportunity to participate in a "Donuts & Discussion" session with our visiting author.

If your child is interested in participating, you may order their chosen books using the attached formWe will be ordering the selected books and delivering them to the students the first week of school.

There are two significant benefits of ordering the books through the library: 1) These books will be eligible for personalization and autographing by the author during her visit.
2) A portion of the proceeds from these orders will benefit the Clairbourn Book Fair and the school library.

For any questions, please email the librarian Mrs. Ward.
