Meet Our New Team!

We are so excited to introduce our new teachers! Welcome to the Clairbourn family!

Maryann Najar, our new PK Teacher, comes from a family of educators, inspired by both her father and sister who are also dedicated teachers. Following their path, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies from Mount St. Mary’s University and a Multiple Subject Clear Credential from UCLA Ext. For the past 14 years, she has enthusiastically taught kindergarten and now eagerly anticipates transitioning into the enriching world of Pre-K education.

Darlene Chai, our new Middle School English Teacher began her educational journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from UC San Diego, then a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Education. Additionally, she holds a Single Subject English Teaching Credential. With 15 years of teaching experience across various grades and subjects, her greatest fulfillment comes from nurturing middle school students through the exploration of English literature.

Originating his teaching career in Chicago, Cory Williamson, our new 5th Grade Teacher,  earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Idaho and taught second and fourth grades while concurrently managing a theatre company. This unique role allowed him to collaborate with artists and high schoolers on immersive plays. Upon relocating to Pasadena, he served as a first and second grade teacher and spearheaded elementary music and drama programs at a an area independent school, leveraging his background in acting and arts education. He is excited to collaborate with Mrs. Gier as they team-teach our 5th graders.

Profesora Lorena Lucas, our new 4th-8th Spanish Teacher, is a native Spanish speaker born in Baja California, Mexico, and raised in Southern California, which brings a rich cultural perspective to her teaching. Equipped with a Bachelor of Arts in child development from California State University, Northridge, she has dedicated the past 23 years to teaching Spanish levels 1-4. Her extensive travels throughout Latin America and Spain have enriched her teaching approach, preparing students effectively for further language studies.

Andrea Storey, our new JPK Teaching Assistant, holds a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from Cal State LA, and began her journey into education as a substitute teacher at area public and independent schools, where she discovered a passion for teaching. She is eagerly looking forward to engaging with our JPK students and working with Mrs. Wong.
