A most heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out and supported the CAST show Goldilocks on Trial! To the cast — congratulations on a fantastic performance! Your dedication, talent and passion brought Ed Monk's classic tale to life in a way that truly captivated the audiences. Each of you contributed to creating something special and your hard work paid off in the form of a magnificent production. Special thank you to Mr. Elmore and Mr. Williamson for working with the students to bring out the best from each of them. Bravo! |
Field Trip Highlights
Field trips are a highlight of a Clairbourn education!
First graders thoroughly enjoyed their time at the LA Zoo. Students had a docent guided tour of the zoo and explored all sorts of animals, from flamingos and orangutans to elephants and crocodiles. Students have been studying animal groups in class, and they impressed all the docents guides with their extensive knowledge on different animals. They were truly shocked how much our first graders knew! All around everyone had a wonderful time learning more about animals on a perfect day at the zoo. |

Women's History Month: Joyce Chen
March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize women who have contributed to the United States. This week, we learned about Joyce Chen, a Chinese-American chef known for popularizing northern-style Chinese cuisine in America.
At just eighteen, Chen starred in the Beijing opera White Snake and cooked her first professional meal. She went on to become a chef, author, television personality, and entrepreneur. In 1958, she opened the Joyce Chen Restaurant, followed by The Joyce Chen Cook Book in 1962. She also hosted Joyce Chen Cooks on PBS.
One of her most notable innovations was the creation of the Peking Wok, a flat-bottomed stir-fry pan. Joyce Chen's dedication and creativity as a chef, author, and entrepreneur demonstrate leadership and heart.
