Clairbourn Insights
Kindergarteners spread love while learning how the postal system works!
Kindergarteners enjoyed their field trip to the San Marino Post Office as they kicked off their postal learning unit. Students met the postmaster, bought stamps,
took turns mailing letters, and watched how mail was
processed. They even had an opportunity to inspect a mail truck.
To take this learning unit to the next level, they opened up the Blue and Gold Dragonfly Post Office, modeled after the actual U.S. Postal Service, where students practiced math skills by counting money as cashiers and sorting mail. Cougars worked together to improve their motor skills and gained service learning experience. Everyone created Valentine's Day cards to mail out to their classmates.
Do you know Americans have celebrated Valentine’s Day since the 19th century? Students processed up to 45 pieces of mail each day during their learning unit last week. Good job, Cougars!

Peeking into La Clase de Español
To integrate Spanish into the daily routine, students start every class with warm up exercises to practice vocabulary, word recognition, pronunciation, memorization, and so much more. The students find themselves zigzagging throughout the classroom singing different jingles as they practice to master El Alfabeto en Español, Greetings and Farewells, Polite Words, and Body Parts, to name a few.
The student's movement is fun and upbeat while they are simultaneously challenged as they practice multiple modalities in the choreography."Let's do it again!" a student said joyfully after she turned and did the last clap, clap, clap. "Oh yes, we will do it again mañana", said Profesora Lucas with a smile.
And now that the students were all warmed up, they were magically transported to a Spanish-speaking country to begin the day's lesson. What a great way to start la clase de español!

Let's be our best presidential self, where you are not only a leader, but you are a leader with heart.
President’s Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors U.S. presidents. It takes place on the third Monday of February. It was originally called Washington’s birthday and celebrated on February 22, which is George Washington’s birthday. Then, in 1968, the holiday was moved to the third Monday in February and expanded to include Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, which is February 12. In more recent years, President’s Day is considered to be a holiday to remember and honor the lives and accomplishments of all past U.S. presidents.
Here at Clairbourn School, we have a Code of Ethics that provides guidelines to express values and characteristics to live by. These values include Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Citizenship, and Spirituality.
Whether you are the president of the United States, the president of your company, or the president of your school, expressing honesty is a good quality to live by because expressing honesty means you are trustworthy. It means you can be trusted because your actions prove it so. It means that you do the right thing even when nobody is watching. It means that you are honest, transparent, and genuine.
Each of you has the opportunity to be your best presidential self, where you are not only a leader, but you are a leader with heart.
