Sharing Gratitude

The snack shop raised $593.42 to be split between the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Many students, especially 5th graders, donated extra in addition to buying snacks.

We collected 292 tubes of lip balm, 172 bottles of eye drops, and 250 vials of eye drops. Of those, 216 tubes of lip balm, 90 bottles of eye drops, and 250 vials of eye drops were taken the the LA Dream Center in Echo Park this weekend, where the staff and volunteers loaded a truck of supplies for the firefighters' command center on the Palisades Fire. Thank you to the seventh graders for decorating bags for the remaining donations, which will be delivered to local fire stations.

The CFA arranged for parent volunteers to deliver the thank-you posters to 22 locations in Arcadia, San Marino, Pasadena, and Altadena. Thank you for showing gratitude and making the posters for our local fire stations and Clairbourn maintenance team, as well as your donations for our Fire Relief Drive to the firefighters!

Quarter One: Academic Honors and Music Awards

Clairbourn is committed to creating Scholars and Leaders with Heart.

We are proud to share the quarter one academic achievements of our hard-working students. Students achieving Honor Roll status have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and no grade less than a B in their academic subjects and no citizenship grade less than an 1. Students achieving Head's List status have earned no grade less than an A in their academic subjects and no citizenship grade less than an 1.

Throughout the year, students in the fourth to eighth grade who participate in the Clairbourn instrumental music program are dedicated to advancing their musical knowledge and skills. They strive to successfully complete rigorous assessments that test their general musical knowledge, instrument-specific proficiency and the ability to play their chosen instruments. A minimum achievement of 90% is set for passing each music level. Many of our talented musicians not only attained multiple levels but also exhibited dedication to self-improvement through their hard work and commitment. Congratulations to our Clairbourn musicians!

Each of you show heart in all you do and we are looking forward to seeing your continuous growth for the next quarter!

Clairbourn Families Association (CFA)

January 23 to February 7

As a community that values compassion and togetherness, we are coming together to help those who are starting over—some from scratch—with essentials like clothing, school supplies, and comfort items. We know these are challenging times, but together we can make a meaningful difference. Here’s how you can help through February 7:
  1. Donate Gift Cards:
    • Physical gift cards can be dropped off at the Front Office.
    • Digital gift cards can be forwarded to Connie Kim who will ensure they reach all families in need.

  2. Contribute to Clairbourn’s Helping Hands Fund:
This fund provides short-term emergency financial support for any member of the Clairbourn community, including students, families, teachers, and staff, who are experiencing hardship.

  3. Uniform Assistance:
Families needing uniforms can access our used uniform supply for free. If you need assistance, please reach out to Summer Zhang. It is a perfect time to donate uniforms to help others.
Currently, the families most affected are staying in temporary spaces. Let’s show them the strength of our Clairbourn community by rallying together and offering our support during this difficult time. If you are in need of help and would like to stay anonymous, please contact Dr. Patzlaff.

Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and commitment to lifting up those in need.

Word for the week from Clairbourn kindergarteners

Perseverance is the word for the week in our kindergarten classes. We all experience challenges in our lives and have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up. Let's join our students from kindergarten to practice GROWING through challenges instead of giving up!

Supporting
Door of Hope

Please check the following announcement from Heather Jones, CFA - Fire Relief Outreach Chair.

Clairbourn has a long tradition of supporting Door of Hope, which helps families experiencing homelessness. Door of Hope’s CEO, Reverend Megan Katerjian, and three team members lost their homes in the Eaton Fire.  Despite such a devastating loss, Door of Hope has continued to assist low-income families impacted by the Eaton Fire.

The Eaton Fire Housing Assistance Program provides: Transitional Housing for up to 8 families in 2025. As current residents of Door of Hope’s Pasadena shelters transition into permanent housing, Door of Hope will dedicate vacant units to fire victims.

Housing Assistance & Disaster Case Management for up to 50 families. This brand new service will come alongside very low-income families who have lost their home in the fire and provide:

Disaster Case Management: Helping families navigate FEMA and other community resources, provide crisis support, and develop a roadmap to long-term stable housing.

Housing Assistance: Addressing financial and housing gaps not covered by FEMA or insurance, including rent, move-in costs, and other critical needs.

Please consider making a gift to support Door of Hope’s Eaton Fire Housing Assistance Program.

Thank you for being Scholars and Leaders with Heart!
