Operation Santa Paws: Donate by Tomorrow!
The fourth and fifth graders are holding a collection drive on behalf of Operation Santa Paws. All the collected items will benefit furry friends at the San Gabriel shelter. Please bring the items to the drop box in the transportation area. Due to safety concerns, stuffed toys, tennis balls, rawhide items and pig ears cannot be accepted.
Items Needed: BEDDING (new or gently used towels and blankets without filling), FOOD (dry canned dog/cat food), MISCELLANEOUS (cat litter, sealed packs of chicken or beef flavored dog/cat treats). We will collect donations until Tuesday, December 15. Thank you for supporting our fourth and fifth graders!

Together in Celebration
The Magic of Christmas, Hanukkah and Las Posadas.
In the spirit of the holidays, we celebrate not only the traditional Christmas, but we also honor Hanukkah and Las Posadas. A special thank you goes to our parent volunteers who bring special cultural insights from their backgrounds to make our community as festive and colorful as possible. We learned Las Posadas means lodging. It is a Mexican tradition involving parties around Christmas time. Our preschool students read A Piñata in a Pine Tree by Pat Mora and Uno, Dos, Tres, Posada! Let’s Celebrate Christmas by Virginia Kroll.
In kindergarten, students tasted latkes and learned about Hanukkah, the festival of lights. This Jewish holiday began on Thursday night and will continue for eight days. Our preschool children created Hanukkah collages and paintings from spinning dreidels. They also read Elmo’s Little Dreidel and were sent home with gelt (gold chocolate coins) and dreidels, along with instructions on how to play.
Clairbourn embraces the rich culture diversity within our community! |
Greetings Clairbourn,
The three of us, Mastaneh Wazni, Tina Sun and Shanshan Huang, have taken on the roles of chairs for this year's Sugar Plum event. We appreciate everyone's presence at our Sugar Plum gathering and feel extremely fortunate to have a community and school that allows us to host such an incredible event.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Ryan Morehouse, the Director of Facilities and Security, and his team for their invaluable assistance. We especially recognize Maria Magdaleno for her constant support and unwavering assistance throughout our event. Our gratitude extends to
Apryle Ferguson and Lysa Lui for their generous contributions, and our sincere appreciation to all the individuals who generously offered their time and effort as volunteers, including Tiffany Fan, Leidy Nijjar, Tiffany Lin, Ting Sung, Anny Shen, Phoebe Lee, Yao 'Kayla' Li, Michelle Zeng, Vanessa Hernandez, Scott Smith and Qian 'Vicky' Wang.
Lastly, we would like to thank the Manwani family for their kind donation of beautiful blankets, and extend a special acknowledgement to our dedicated CFA parent volunteers. It's wonderful that these Clairbourn traditions continue to be honored and passed down to a new generation of families!

| | How could you light up the world with your kindness?
When we asked our kindergarteners how they could light up the world with their kindness, they each shared their insights!
One student shared he could light up the world by reading to his little sister! Another student expressed she can show kindness by playing with her grandpa! Others added, "I can share toys with my friends and play nicely, pick up trash and help my mom and my dog!"
Let our kindergartener's insight be a gentle reminder to us all that a little kindness goes a long way! |

Clairbourn Gift Policy
Gratitude is always welcome, but a gift is never necessary. A kind note, a genuine thank you or a word of gratitude is always meaningful. Clairbourn has a stated gift policy for all employees:
• Employees may only accept gifts and/or gift cards that have a value of $100 or less.
• Employees may accept a gift and/or gift card of over $100 only if it is a collective gift and each individual’s contribution is $100 or less (i.e. the scrip gift at the holidays and end of the year).
Please help us by following this policy. If you feel you must do more than the note or word of thanks, please consider contributing to the group scrip gifts at the holidays and at the end of the year. Please do not put any employees in an awkward situation by ignoring the policy. If an employee receives something of higher value, it must be returned or will be donated to the school.
Thank you for helping us create an inclusive environment!

Holiday Giving: Children Helping Children
Here is a list of charities for you to consider supporting as we approach the holiday season. Clairbourn students are Scholars and Leaders with Heart, so let’s show some HEART by helping those less fortunate than we are. If you choose to support one of the charities, please try to mention Clairbourn in your donations or purchases. Support is voluntary, but much appreciated. Please contact Heather Jones, Holiday Gift Giving Chair, with any questions.
