November Drop Everything and Build

Middle School students were challenged to build a device that could travel down a ramp and land as precisely as possible.

Students could use craft sticks, straws, binder clips, rubber bands, paper clips and post-it notes. Despite also being allowed to use as much tape as they wanted, this challenge proved to be an especially difficult one for the middle school engineers. Many designs were tested, refined and completely reconfigured during the building time!

In the end, for the eighth grade, the runners-up were Rebecca and Christina and the winners were Madeline, Isabelle and Valen. In sixth grade, the runners-up were Milton and Hins and the winners were Ricky and Angela. In seventh grade, the runners-up were Malena and Bea and the winners and overall winners (by a lot) were Arissa and Anthony!

Cougars, each of you exhibited perseverance, ingenuity and creativity.
We are proud of you!

Clairbourn Insights

At Morning Assembly, we talked about how giving thanks means putting gratitude into action. Everyone was encouraged to be a source of inspiration, actively practicing gratitude and extending thanks to foster a supportive and caring community. Here at Clairbourn, nurturing gratitude and seeing all the good around us is not only practiced during Thanksgiving but woven into students' daily life.

We enjoyed another heartwarming Thanksgiving Assembly, which is one of our beloved school traditions. JPK-K cougars danced, first to third graders recited poems,
and fourth and fifth graders sang a song interspersed with students sharing gratitude! And watching all the middle schoolers gathered together and singing as one made us smile! Hope you enjoy our 2023 Thanksgiving Assembly video.

As part of our gratitude project, every member of our community was invited to share their thankfulness on paper vegetables placed in a basket on the wall of the MPB.

Let's continue to harvest our gratitude and be Scholars and Leaders with HEART!

If you choose to support one of the attached charities, please try to mention Clairbourn in your donations or purchases. Support is completely voluntary, but much appreciated. Please contact Heather Jones, Holiday Gift Giving Chair, with any questions.

Honoring Native American Heritage Month

Every year in November, we honor Native American Heritage Month to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of our Indigenous American communities.

During Morning Assembly, Student Council prepared a clever presentation for the younger students to learn about Notah Begay, the first Native American golfer!

Thank you!

Insights into understanding, confronting and triumphing over fear!

Throughout the week, we discussed the theme of overcoming fear at the Morning Assemblies. It's important to acknowledge the various fears we encounter, ranging from imaginary ones to those that hinder our personal growth. We emphasized how complex fears can impede our progress and encouraged confronting them with bravery and a growth mindset.

Students heard about the positive side of fear as caution and discussed the importance of distinguishing between healthy caution and paralyzing fear. We addressed how to support others in times of fear, drawing inspiration from "The Wizard of Oz" to understand the power of encouragement!

Cougars, let's focus on how LOVE can cast out fear, and how to control and challenge our fearful thoughts while emphasizing the support of loved ones in walking through life unafraid!
