Bring History to Life

Retelling California and American History

Students from fourth and fifth grades had an exciting experience last week bringing California and American history to life! Fourth graders actively participated in a lively retelling of California’s rich history. Students focused on major events that shaped our great state of California. Drama, dance, games and music supported students’ vocabulary development and enriched their learning experience. They enjoyed dressing up to represent the different eras of California, presenting their vocabulary words and answering trivia questions to earn points for their team in a friendly jeopardy style game.

Fifth grade students explored the famous events, historical figures and relevant vocabulary of this pivotal point in America’s history. Each student picked a famous figure from the American Revolution to be their character for the day. Flags, maps, re-enactments, music and games helped the students explore and understand the importance of American liberty and patriotism.

Let's learn some fun facts about our eighth graders!

Please join us in celebrating our mighty Class of 2024!

Honoring Diversity of our Clairbourn Community!

We appreciate everyone's involvement and support in helping our students experience the diversity of our Clairbourn community!

The Clairbourn community celebrated a Cultural Heritage Day! Students, faculty and staff wore traditional attire or a shirt to represents their culture. Some also wore their Clairbourn shirt to represent being a part of the Clairbourn culture! Thank you to middle school social studies teacher Mrs. Neilson and science teacher Ms. Vinnedge for organizing this special event and all of the middle school parents for sharing a dish from your culture!
Clairbourn Life

Thank you to Student Council for organizing such a fun and engaging Poker Tag buddy activity with third grade students. Each student wore a flag football belt and picked a poker chip out of a bag. They tagged each other by pulling their flags. If the person who pulled someone else's flag had a higher value poker chip, they got to take the other person's chip or chips. The team with the highest total of poker chips at the end won. Student Council worked on a list of guidelines for the middle school students to help ensure all participants had fun while remaining safe!

Everyone was encouraged to play fairly, be good teammates, and just do their best. Student Council demonstrated leadership for creating such an opportunity to bring a community together!
Sixth Graders Connect with Rangers and Nature

From Classroom to National Parks

In the sixth grade science class, examples from National Parks were used to learn about how erosion and deposition have shaped the Earth's surface. Students discussed Carlsbad Caverns when learning about groundwater and Kenai Fjords when learning about glaciers. They took it further by writing letters to National Park rangers. Each student picked a National Park and wrote a "Dear National Park Ranger" letter asking two questions about erosion and deposition in the park and one question about the job of a ranger. So far, sixth graders have received replies from 11 of the 17 parks. The sixth graders and middle school science teacher Ms. Vinnedge got really excited when a new letter came in the mail!

Thank you for being
