Q3 Honors and
Music Awards

Clairbourn is committed to creating Scholars and Leaders with Heart.

We shared the quarter three academic achievements of our hard-working middle school students this week. Students achieving Head's List status have earned no grade less than an "A" in their academic subjects and no grade less than a "1". Students achieving Honor Roll status have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and no grade less than a "B" in their academic subjects and no grade less than a "1". Your commitment and perseverance in academic pursuits shows in all you do! Let's finish the year strong, Cougars!

Celebrating Music Achievement

For our music awards assembly, we recognized fourth to eighth grade students who showed an unwavering commitment by investing time in their daily practice and collaboration with their peers. They passed the general musical knowledge tests and performed leveled pieces on their specific instrument.

The music levels we are using are inspired by the nationwide standard throughout the United States:
Level 1: elementary level
Level 2: middle school level
Level 3: high school level
Level 4: college or competitive high school level
Level 5: competitive university level
Level 6: professional level

Clairbourn Music Levels expanded from the six levels into sub-parts in order to give the students more goals to readily achieve. We currently have students who are playing at the elementary school level, many at the middle school level, quite a few at the high school level and one that recently passed a playing test at the college level!

Using these testing levels allows students to improve at their own pace. We are proud of our Cougars' accomplishments and their achievements! Congratulations!
Thank you for
supporting C.A.S.T.!

A most heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out and supported the CAST show Treasure Island! To the cast of Treasure Island - congratulations on a fantastic performance! Your dedication, talent and passion brought Stevenson's classic tale to life in a way that truly captivated the audiences. Each of you contributed to creating something special and your hard work paid off in the form of a magnificent production. Special thank you to Mr. Elmore for working with the students to bring out the best from each of them. Bravo!

First Grade Bunny Burrow in I Lab

The first grade students participated in a building challenge. The goal was to design and build a bunny burrow to protect a bunny from the spring rain. The bunny also had to be able to enter and leave the burrow.

Students worked in small groups to create a design which they incorporated into the actual built. They used a variety of materials to build their burrows: aluminum foil, wax paper, plastic wrap, toilet paper rolls, unifix cubes, pipe cleaners and construction paper. Let's check out their design thinking process and problem solving journey!
Egg-citing Adventures

Experience the wonders of life science in kindergarten!

In our kindergarten classrooms, students learned about life science through the study of chickens and their life cycles. The fascination sparked by reading books on this subject quickly transformed into a hands-on and engaging learning experience. They placed 14 fertilized eggs into an incubator and waited for signs of growth over the 21 days. Through the process of candling fertilized eggs, they found viable eggs and also those unfit for hatching, deepening their understanding of the beginnings of life. Anticipation peaked as they observed movement within two of the eggs and then welcomed the arrival of the chicks.

Our kindergarten classrooms buzzed with activities centered on chickens, ranging from reading and sketching to exploring the different parts of a chicken. Students shared the responsibility of caring for the chicks through the chicken helper role. Students even enjoyed naming each baby chick that hatched! Check out their egg-citing adventures!

Never be limited by other people's imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination.”
