February Drop
Everything and Build

Well done, Cougar engineers!

On Leap Day, the middle school students were challenged to build the tallest marble loop-the-loop using foam pipe insulation, craft sticks, binder clips and tape. Students worked in teams to design structures that could harness enough gravitational energy to allow their marble to complete one full loop. Innovative designs were used to support steep angles, reduce friction and keep the marbles on track.

In the eighth grade, honorable mention goes to Jayden and Eudora, who were in third place by half a centimeter. The tied winners in eighth grade were Asal & Vicky and Isabelle & Arthur. In the seventh grade, honorable mention goes to Ruby and Bella who were in third place by just a centimeter. The tied winners in seventh grade were Matthew & Arissa and Jerry & Darren. Finally, in the sixth grade, the runners-up were Hins, Austin and Keira. The sixth grade winners, with the tallest loop-the-loop in the whole middle school, were Ricky and Aaron.

Nurturing a Lifelong Appreciation in Preschool

Celebrating Ms. Jacob's Retirement

We love to incorporate outdoor learning into the curriculum. JPK students enjoyed a gardening project that provided a hands-on experience. The students' love for nature sparked their curiosity about the fascinating world of plants. Guided by experienced Ms. Jacobs, they learn about plant life cycles, the importance of soil and the interdependence of living organisms in ecosystems. Students engaged in planting, watering and caring for various vegetables, flowers and herbs, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to the environment.

Ms. Jacobs has dedicated the past several decades to Clairbourn, and her passion for nurturing our youngest learners in preschool has shown every day. As she retires and starts a new chapter in her life, we extend our heartfelt well wishes to her. Thank you, Ms. Jacobs, for your dedication, patience and love which have enriched Clairbourn over the years!
Clairbourn Insights

The fourth graders visited the San Juan Capistrano Mission for their field trip.

The students experienced first-hand what life was like at the Mission and actively engaged with history to deepen their understanding of the Mission's role in shaping California today.
Each student made an adobe brick like the type the Native Americans used to build the missions. It was an enriching experience bringing their history textbook to life.

School News

Just as our students learn and grow every day, it is equally important for our administrators, staff and faculty to continue their professional development.

This past weekend, Dr. Patzlaff, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Paciorek attended The NAIS conference in St. Louis. They joined over 3,000 educators from across the nation, heard many inspiring keynote speakers and stayed current with educational trends.

They returned with many insights to share at the recent faculty and staff meeting. Progress was also made on Clairbourn's Strategic Plan. Clairbourn is committed to fostering Scholars and Leaders with Heart, not only among our students but also among our qualified educators. Let's keep marching forward!
