Clairbourn Insights
Empowering Minds • Nurturing Leaders
We are proud of our rigorous program for all grades, and in order to help our students grow and develop, Clairbourn also offers support from a learning specialist. We aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment for students to communicate openly. Ms. Senkbeil, also known as Ms. S.,
visits classrooms from kindergarten to fifth grade to support students' academic needs individually as well as in small group settings.
Having this valuable learning resource available to our students also greatly supports our classroom teachers. At Clairbourn, we continually strive for a balanced program that is age-appropriate and rigorous. Students acquire the tools and skills they need for future success, leading them to become scholars and leaders with heart! |

Forces of Flight: Weight, Lift, Thrust, Drag
The eighth grade class recently wrapped up their study of forces in fluids, including several hands-on labs to learn more about the four forces of flight: weight, lift, thrust and drag. Students built and compared two different paper airplanes to determine the effect of weight, wing size and wing design on distance and duration of flight. To learn more about the effect of turbulence on drag, students built paper kites and varied the length of the tails. The kites with smaller tails barely took flight, while the kites with longer tails were able to fly high even with very little wind!

Life Science in Kindergarten
Our kindergarten students are learning about life science.
They read books about chickens and their life cycles, and they are now candling fertilized eggs to observe the growth and development of an embryo inside the egg. Soon they will have exciting news to share with us when the eggs hatch! Stay tuned! |
