Creating Connection
Clairbourn community bonds through the love of literature!
Love fosters a connection that often involves understanding each other's core values, beliefs and life goals. This bond creates a sense of relationship, where people feel like they're on the same team, working towards common dreams. We are grateful for the Clairbourn
community and everyone's mutual care for one another.
Students cheer for each other and teachers support one
another. We are a community of love.
Our buddy reading time is a perfect reflection of this! Middle school students joined first through third grade students for a buddy reading afternoon. Each pair of students from various grades selected a unique spot on our campus and read together. Some of the younger cougars even took a turn to read aloud to our older students! There was also time for them to bond over games including rock-paper-scissors and coconut! Thank you for showing HEART! |
What a Difference 100 Days Make!
We took a moment to reflect on the work undertaken by our students and faculty as we celebrated the achievements and milestones of our 100 days of school! We saw their hard work and growth as individuals and as a community. We love to watch our students' curiosity blossom into knowledge and action. After only 100 days of school, their passion for learning is evident as they soar to new heights. We cannot wait to see what the next 100 days will bring!

When Art Turns 3D
The fourth grade students practiced the techniques of cutting, folding and gluing paper to craft 3D cages, followed by instruction on using tabs to elevate their drawings within these cages. This project allowed the students to emphasize the creative potential of manipulating paper through folding and cutting to produce captivating 3D artwork! |
World of Chemical Reactions
Fifth graders had an exciting hands-on lab experience discovering chemical reactions! Throughout the lab session, students developed the understanding that chemical reactions create new materials with useful properties. Engaging in experiments, they combined various substances, observing the reactions unfold before their eyes. From ordinary household ingredients such as glue and borax emerged a mysterious substance called the Mystery Goo. |

Embrace Your Own Uniqueness
Let's celebrate the courage it takes to be ourselves!
Imagine you have a box of crayons, each contributing its own unique color to create a beautiful masterpiece. Similarly, each one of you is like a special crayon, adding your own hue to the world. Being yourself means embracing everything that makes you who you are – your likes, dislikes and talents. But it takes courage to show the world your true colors, especially when others may not understand or appreciate your uniqueness.
Our world is like a giant coloring book, and each of you brings something special to its pages. So, embrace your uniqueness, be proud of who you are, and remember you're all incredible just as you are. When you have the courage to be yourself, you give others permission to do the same, creating a world where everyone can shine in their own way.
We are Scholars and Leaders with Heart.

Exploring the Ground Beneath our Feet
Students enjoyed studying the ground beneath their feet and the processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition which shape our planet.
Each sixth grader took a sample of soil from various locations in the jungle in order to observe the complex composition of the mixture. The students determined that organic material, sand and silt are all present in our local soil.

A special visit from composer Jongnic Bontemps!
Jongnic “JB” Bontemps is a film composer who began his career as a software developer and entrepreneur. JB received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Yale University in 1996. After deciding to pursue his passion for music, JB completed studies at USC’s Film Scoring Program.
JB was born in Brooklyn and learned the piano while soaking up the gospel and jazz surroundings of his youth. JB has had a varied and successful career as a film composer and is known for his contemporary sound. You can hear rap, jazz, and even Indian music in JB’s film scores. He worked on the film scores for the blockbuster, sci-fi action movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Creed II and My Name Is Pauli Murray, which was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award.
In describing what attracted him to film scoring, JB said: “Film music has to tell a story without words. Its job is to add depth and dimension to the images and words presented on screen. That’s what attracted me to the medium; the opportunity to really express emotion with music.”
Thank you for sharing this inspiring talk with our community in honor of Black History Month, Mr. Bontemps! |
Cougar Corner
Thank you to Scott Smith, a parent in third grade, for developing and donating a customized POS inventory system to Cougar Corner.
Now students can shop and have their account updated seamlessly. Our treasured snack boutique was created by CFA volunteers decades ago and we are delighted that we are keeping up with the digital age. Thank you to all our parent volunteers that make Clairbourn the amazing place it is!
Fun fact: Other schools always admire our unique snack shop when they come for sporting events. I’m sure our Cougar Corner has inspired the snack shops on their campuses. |
