Re-Enrollment Agreement and Deposit Are Due by Feb. 9, 2024!
Re-Enrollment Contracts for 2024-2025 are available in your parent portal. For the new school year, we have a small increase of 4% in tuition, which will cover the increasing costs related to school management, especially ensuring we can increase teacher salaries. It is vital to maintain competitive salaries to retain and attract the best teachers in the area. You will also notice an increase in CFA (Clairbourn Family Association) dues. The increase in dues covers the cost of carnival wristbands and the family social in the fall.
Please log in to your CougarNet online portal to renew the re-enrollment agreement for the 2024-2025 school year. ALL parents connected to the child/ren must sign the contract using their own Blackbaud account login, or the contract will not be submitted.
DO NOT LOG IN AS YOUR CHILD.

We look forward to another great year in 2024-2025!

Music Certificates
Clairbourn is committed to creating Scholars and Leaders with Heart.
Throughout the year, students in the fourth to eighth grade Clairbourn instrumental music program advance their musical knowledge and skills. They strive to complete rigorous assessments that test their general musical knowledge, instrument-specific proficiency and the ability to play their chosen instruments. A minimum achievement of 90% is set for passing each music level. Many of our talented musicians not only attained multiple levels but also exhibited dedication to self-improvement through their hard work and commitment. Congratulations to our Clairbourn musicians!

Developing Research Skills for Future Success
Empowering Minds
Seventh graders are writing a history research paper. Students discuss how to approach a large project by breaking down the process into manageable parts. They practice fundamental skills such as how to paraphrase, take notes, write a bibliography and not to plagiarize. Keep up the good work, Clairbourn scholars! |

Postal Service Learning Unit in Kindergarten
Kindergarten students enjoyed their field trip to the San Marino Post Office as they kicked off their postal learning unit! Students met Lena, the postmaster, and everyone bought a stamp, took turns mailing letters and watched how mail was processed. They even had an opportunity to inspect a mail truck.
The Blue and Gold Dragonfly Post Office, modeled after the actual U.S. Postal Service, is now officially opened! Kindergarten students practice math skills by counting money as cashiers and sorting mail. They work together to improve their motor skills and gain service learning experience. Kindergarten students also create Valentine's Day cards to mail out to their classmates. Do you know they can process up to 45 pieces of mail each day? Good job, Cougars!

Newton's Laws in Action!
In their physical science class, the eighth grade has been studying Newton's Three Laws of Motion. When Dr. Patzlaff shared the story of her terrible, no-good, very bad morning, the eighth grade students recognized the importance of Newton's First Law of Motion in explaining what happened to the school bag on the seat of her car. To put their knowledge of all three laws to the test, the students designed ways to reduce the impact of the collision between two objects, in this case, a golf ball rolling down a plank and a toy car. Students collected data to compare two designs against a control and against each other.

Freak the Mighty inspired Dictionary
The sixth graders recently finished a book called "Freak the Mighty." One of the characters loves words and even makes his own dictionary. In the dictionary, he lists some of his favorite words and gives each a creative and witty definition.
Using Book Creator, Clairbourn sixth graders enjoyed being creative and making their own dictionaries as well! Check out some of their work! |
