Summer Updates

Dear Clairbourn Families,

I hope you have all enjoyed the first half of your summer. We have been very busy around campus getting ready for an exciting school year. We have done some construction, roofing, concrete work, and upgrades of our learning spaces. We have ordered new text books, purchased new equipment, and our whole team of teachers and administrators have been doing our summer reading. Yes, we have summer reading assignments too, since we are all life-long learners.

We have expanded our Clairbourn Family to include some amazing new educators. You will find their information below. I look forward to having you meet them and welcoming them into the Clairbourn Family. We know they are all going to contribute a great deal to our community.

Please enjoy the rest of your summer and get ready for an amazing year of learning, growth, joy, and excitement!

Amy Patzlaff, Ed.D.

Meet Our New Team

We are so excited to introduce our new teachers! Welcome to the Clairbourn family!

Mrs. Sing Chung has
worked with children since 2013. She studied early childhood education and
has a bachelor’s degree in international business from Australia. Sing is passionate about helping each child progress in all areas. She looks forward to assisting
Mrs. Thorne. In her free time, she enjoys watching her two children in cheerleading and soccer!

Mr. Aaron Berglund has a master's degree in teaching from USC, a bachelor’s degree in sociology, and holds a multiple subject teaching credential. He brings to us many years of experience from both public and private schools. Aaron is passionate about sports, and in his free time, he loves to spend time with his wife and 15-month old daughter reading and cooking!

Mr. Rex Beaber has a
background in physics and astronomy, and a master's in curriculum and instruction within the games + learning
+ society research group at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He built makerspaces & innovation programs at various schools. Rex is a budding baker and fond fermenter. He passes the time while his microbes are multiplying by playing ultimate frisbee, paddle boarding, camping, practicing yoga, and being anywhere in nature.

Ms. Danielle Germonprez has been teaching for five years in the Santa Barbara area in both public and private schools. She has a bachelor's from Florida State University in theater and art. One of the most impactful takeaways from her time in graduate school was realizing the power of art in addressing mental health. She looks forward to incorporating her knowledge and her love for theater to encourage high levels of student engagement in her classroom.

Ms. Stephanie Neilson has been an educator for more than two decades. She has an art background and a master's in human development and teacher certification. What she loves the most about teaching is watching students make connections to content through hands-on experiences and projects. Stephanie is originally from Philadelphia. In her free time, she likes paddle boarding, gardening, hiking, making art, and spending time with her two children and their French bulldog named Gus!

You Are CFA!

All Clairbourn families are members of the Clairbourn Families Association (CFA)

The mission of the CFA is to enrich and strengthen our community. All of the activities of the CFA (from Book Fair and Special Lunches to Used Uniform Sales) are done in the name of fostering that family feeling Clairbourn is known for, as well as creating opportunities for families to participate in their children’s school. Of course, we fundraise too. The CFA provides important dollars to Clairbourn each year that help provide field trips, assemblies and guest speakers. Please see the 2022-2023 CFA event flyer and look out for the hot lunch schedule later in the summer. We look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school — "Coffee on the Quad Lawn!"
