Grow and Imagine for Years to Come!
Dear Clairbourn Families,
I wanted to share some exciting news for those of you who were unable to attend the Community Coffee last week! Clairbourn has contracted to refurbish our Randall Hall and Seiter Center Playgrounds during Spring Break. Both are in need of a new surface and some elements need to be replaced. In addition, we are adding some large integrated umbrellas to the Randall Hall structure to provide needed shade during the warmer months.
We have ten families who have generously given lead gifts to start this project. They will be recognized on a donor appreciation sign in our renovated playground. We would love to have additional contributions. If you would like to be part of this project and have your name included in the legacy of supporting our students, we ask for a donation of $6,000 or more.
We are very excited to see this campus improvement and to watch the children continue to play and grow.
Amy Patzlaff, Ed.D.

Clairbourn Insights
Looking into a Day in Kindergarten!
Kindergarten students spend their busy days engaged in academic learning activities, attending specialist classes, and playing on the playground. They also work on developing the characteristics of responsibility and citizenship by participating in daily jobs such as line leaders, fish feeders, recycling helpers, and piano players who signal clean up time. In kindergarten, students develop the ability to work, learn, and get along well with others as they demonstrate being scholars and leaders with heart.

Walt Disney Concert Hall
Encourage students to see beyond their own horizon and develop as both individuals and as learners.
The fourth grade field trip to the Walt Disney Concert Hall was a success! Our students joined others from across Southern California for a special performance of The Firebird, played by the LA Philharmonic. Students enjoyed seeing different kinds of intriguing instruments. There were lots of excited faces when they saw Frank Gehry's architectural masterpiece in downtown LA. Some were even heard humming the tune on the way back to school! Well done!

February is Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration that honors the achievements, rich culture and history of African Americans and recognizes the important contributions of Black individuals in society. Thank you to The Jones and Moukabaa Families for donating sweet potato pies from the Gourmet Cobbler Factory, a black owned business in Pasadena, for tomorrow's Mothers and Grandparents Visiting Day. What a wonderful way to begin this month's recognition and celebration!

National Periodic Table Day
Since 2016, National Periodic Table Day has been celebrated on February 7 with the goal of promoting the challenges that were overcome to develop the modern periodic table! Mr. David T. Steineker, a chemistry teacher at Jefferson County Public Schools in Kentucky, was inspired by those challenges and took the initiative to celebrate National Periodic Table Day based upon John Newlands first table of the elements published on February 7, 1863.
At Clairbourn, we value critical thinking and will continue to encourage new discoveries in science. Keep on thinking big, Cougars! |
