A Special Thank You to Our Amazing Book Fair Chairs and Volunteers from CFA President, Stephanie Nava

Thank you to the fabulous Clairbourn Community for their support of the 2019 Book Fair "Wild About Books." Committee volunteers worked tirelessly the month before the Book Fair to plan and organize. The decorating committee devoted an entire day to transforming the MPB into a jungle. And to each and every volunteer who signed up for a shift during the Book Fair, we could not have done it without you!

A special thank you to our Book Fair Chairs, Ting Sung and Siyi Zhao for their dedication to making the event a success. We cannot forget Ann Mize, our wonderful librarian, for kick starting the planning for this event months ago. The tremendous success of the Book Fair would not have been possible without the support of Clairbourn's Community.

6th Annual Entrepreneurial Fair and Family BBQ was an afternoon to remember

This year's Entrepreneurial Fair featured 30 booths offering an amazing assortment of student-made items. Offerings ranged from chocolate dipped fruits to Dr. Patzlaff-themed cookies and from hand-painted bird houses to hand-crocheted items. The students put a lot of effort into their booths, decorations, and marketing—and they were rewarded nicely. Thank you to the entrepreneurs for their hard work and thank you to the Clairbourn Community for supporting and encouraging them.

Immediately following the Entrepreneurial Fair was the first Family BBQ. A special thank you goes to our Entreprenuerial Fair and Family Barbeque Event Chair Jason Nava.  He put his heart and soul into this project and coordinated a wonderful group of hard-working dads to help him including Lucio Kim, Che Wang, Ken Hong, Bing Hou and Michael Lee. They were the key volunteers, and all of them worked a 12-hour day.  Additionally, the following list of dads and moms were very important volunteers who helped to serve food, man the grills, and helped to tear down the event: Sevag Balikian, Brian Chung, John Shieh, Vu Nguyen, Manuel Avitia, Patrick Toche, Zhong Hua Zhou, Bo Guan, GuangWei (David) Cai, Stephanie Nava, Ting Sun, Floy Shieh, Ely King, Lucy Balikian and Connie Kim. Thank you also goes to Rooted Band members (comprised of current and former Clairbourn students) who provided entertainment for the event.

The beautiful and delicious, as well as thoughtfully donated, BBQ dinner was an impressive array of 60lbs brisket, 30lbs chicken, 18 racks of ribs, 30lbs of tri tip, 155 hamburgers, 100 hot dogs, 40lbs mac and cheese and 20lbs potato salad.  No detail was left unaddressed, from the layout, to the decorations, to pop-up tents for each child. Thank you to the "dad crew" and to Parker Hale and Ryan Morehouse for their help in setting up and tearing down all the tables and booths.

I think the creativity the students expressed this year was off the charts. I could really see that the children put thought into their products and even showed some basic marketing of their products. Also when talking to the students you could really see their pride and how excited they were to be a part of this event. Overall this event was very successful in not only getting children to participate but also bringing our community together as a whole. - Jason Nava, Event Chair
