Community Coming Together

Dear Clairbourn Families,

This has been a warm but happy week. The CFA is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming Book Fair and working on details of how to maintain the support of reading while keeping the risks low. I am getting excited about it too!

We also have two new pieces of news about our parking lot. The first is about afternoon transportation. Patrick Wang (8th grade) and his family saw the early difficulties in the pickup line and thought they might be able to help. They developed an app, coded QR codes, printed new cards with the codes, and donated scanner and reader equipment. They have also come to school multiple times to test and retest the system. We think it is good to go. New cards were sent home with your child today for use starting Friday. The person who called the names in will now scan the names into an app. The people at the benches will have the list and be able to get the students ready without misunderstanding names or confusing students with the same first name. I can't wait to test it out. Thanks to the Wang family for their thoughtful solution!

The other parking lot news is an important request to complete the Magnus Health App at home. We have had parents who are trying to complete the app in the parking lot line. This has resulted in some dangerous driving. Yesterday, I saw four separate dangerous events, all a result of looking at the app instead of where they were driving. Remember, safety is the number one priority!

Lastly, a huge shout out to Mr. Nick Jubilado! As the fearless leader of the Health Office, he has been coordinating all of the weekly testing, managing the forms, and caring for the student who need health attention. My favorite quote from the week was from a student leaving the Health Office with a scratched knee. I asked him how he was doing. He told me, "Mr. Nick already took care of it, so I am fine. He is really good!" Thanks, Nick! We can all help him out even more by making sure the Magnus Health forms are all completed and the CougarNet forms are all done. It makes it so much easier if he doesn't have to track you down. There are only 28 students with incomplete forms.  Thanks for uploading the forms or signing them digitally!

Message from the Health Office

School runs weekly COVID testing for all the students.
If your child misses the  school's weekly testing, you will be responsible for your child's testing from an outside vendor. The result needs to be returned to the Health Office ASAP. Your child can still attend school while waiting for the result.
