From the Head of School
Onward and Upward!
Dear Clairbourn Families,
Yesterday was our first CFA (Clairbourn Families Association) meeting of the year. CFA President Ting Sung did a great job explaining the CFA and their dual purpose of both fundraising and community building. Her able team of parent volunteers took turns speaking about the opportunities to support our community and make it a vibrant place where everyone has a chance to participate and contribute. The enthusiasm was visible! I then spoke briefly about our theme for the year, Together We Are Clairbourn. If you missed the meeting, it was recorded and will be shared with the community in the link below so everyone can get a sense of the year to come.
I am pleased to tell you that our morning transportation has improved. Thanks to those who are following the instructions and coming at the recommended time. It makes a huge difference. Thanks also to those who are following the traffic flow below. We are trying to be good neighbors and not block intersections or negatively impact the families living in the adjacent homes. We are including the traffic flow diagram one more time to ensure everyone is familiar with the correct route. Please do not form a line on Sunnyslope as it negatively impacts the neighbors.
Because our drop offs have settled into a good pattern, we are going to start marking students tardy who arrive after 8:20 am. For the last week, there have only been a handful of students who are arriving after 8:15, so the 8:20 mark seems like a good balance, for now, to ensure students are getting a full day of instruction without sacrificing safety.
I can't wait to see the creative, happy, and fun animated or cartoon character shirts everyone will wear tomorrow. The Student Council is doing a great job thinking of creative ways to bring the school together. Way to go Student Council!

Middle School Drop and Build
For the first Middle School Drop Everything & Build Challenge of the school year, pairs of students were tasked with building the widest structure possible with paper, notecards, paperclips, and masking tape. Builders were constrained by the amount of time allowed and by the amount of space the base of the structures could occupy on the table. The Middle School students showed perseverance, teamwork, and some amazing outside-the-box thinking.
The overall winners in the Middle School were 6th graders Emily K. and Marc C. The 6th grade runners-up were Vicky S. and Arthur B. The 7th grade winners were Rogan W. and Arthur Z., and the runners-up were Mauricio R. and Fredric S. In the 8th grade, the winners were Andy C. and Vincent S., and the runners-up were Alex C. and John D.

National Hispanic American Heritage Month September 15 to October 15
This month, we pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. This week, we will be talking about a famous baseball player named Roberto Clemente and a well-known playwright named Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Message from the Health Office
School runs weekly COVID testing for all the students.
If your child misses the school's weekly testing, you will be responsible for your child's testing from an outside vendor. The result needs to be returned in to the Health Office ASAP. Your child can still attend school while waiting for the result. |
Clairbourn was voted Best Private School in the San Gabriel Valley for three years in a row! Thank you to our wonderful community! Please continue your support and write us a review!
