School Safety Notice

Many children at Clairbourn have a moderate to severe allergy to peanuts and peanut-derived products. Ingestion, or sometimes even just exposure to peanuts or peanut oil, may cause a severe reaction in a child who is believed to have this sensitivity.

We’re asking for your assistance in helping to provide all students with a safe school environment in this area, as follows:
  • Please avoid sending any nuts or items containing nuts–especially peanuts or peanut butter--to school.
  • Help your child understand that he or she must not share food or snacks with classmates at any time, unless a teacher has given approval to do so.
  • If sending any special treats to school for a birthday or other celebration, be sure that this food item is either whole fruits and/or vegetables or is in a pre-packaged container that includes an ingredient label.  Please give these items to your child’s teacher for distribution.
  • Hand washing is an important health habit for a variety of reasons.  Please help your child understand the importance of good hand washing before and after eating and other activities. This is especially important if he or she has eaten peanut butter or peanuts before coming to school in the morning.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our campus safe for everyone.
