From the Head of School
Settling in and making progress everyday
Dear Clairbourn Families,
Thanks for your attendance at the Back-to-School Night sessions this week. The teachers work hard to make the sessions informative and helpful for parents, so a big thanks to the teachers for their thoughtful preparation and execution of these meetings!
Thanks also to the CFA for the extra efforts to help parents with used uniforms. It seems that Lands' End has a lot of items on backorder. We certainly understand
there are supply chain issues everywhere, so thanks to Jenny Chun Fung and Lucy Balikian for helping with used uniforms!
As is the case each fall and spring, the mosquitos are out in the area. Many families have helpfully suggested products they have sprayed at their homes. At school, we are restricted on what pesticides can be used around the children. We can and do spray on weekends, but still can use only certain chemicals which are not as strong as some of the chemicals individuals can use at their homes. We are also working with the County Vector Control Office to locate any breeding areas that can be controlled without toxic chemicals. So, until the weather changes, please consider using a spray on the children or try other methods like the patches and bracelets to help.
This has been a great start to the year. I am so energized each day when I see the eager students bounding out of the cars in the morning ready to start another good day of learning. Way to be Scholars and Leaders with Heart! Go Cougars!

Students across all grades are stimulated, learning, and making new discoveries!
Eighth graders were occupied with their interview preparation in English Class. Middle School students participated in the Math Square Challenge where they got to work together on a problem-solving challenge, and a hands-on science solubility lab experiment.
Meanwhile, second graders were exploring a math unit called "Numbers All Around" and had their first Math Game Day! Third graders stayed busy with a Design Challenge to help them think outside the box.
Kindergarteners searched for the Gingerbread Man who got away. They looked all over the campus and finally found him in the library!
In the preschool yard, children are exploring manipulatives, meeting new friends, and making daily discoveries! So much is happening daily on campus!
