Introducing Our New Student Council 

Student Council Class Representatives, for the first half of the school year, are sixth-graders Charlotte Y. and Andy H., seventh-graders Vanessa H. and Jake T., and eighth-graders Madison B., Austin H., and Alex L. They join the four officers elected last May, Zaria E., Secretary, Sarah I., Treasurer, Matthew C., Vice President, and Kevin Z., President. Sincere appreciation goes to all the students who ran for the election, and we thank them for their willingness to serve Clairbourn School!
 

Late Start 9/25 - Morning Daycare Offered 

On Wednesday, September 25 school starts at 10 am. Campus gates will open at 9:30 am for all students. We are offering morning daycare starting at 7:30 am for those who call the school and register ahead of time.

Take a free yard sign available at Reception to show your school pride. Join Communications Director, Nancy Ward, in proudly displaying this sign in your neighborhood. Word-of-mouth counts. Go Cougars!
 
CFA News

CFA Parent Meeting for September

Join us on Tuesday, September 10 at 8:30 am in the Multi-Purpose Building (MPB) to learn how you can get more out of your own Clairbourn experience by volunteering! Build your parent support system, showcase your skills, and experience Clairbourn traditions. The Volunteer Opportunities Fair will give you a chance to meet with the CFA event chairs and learn about opportunities to get involved at Clairbourn.

Benefits to you: There are many benefits to volunteering such as meeting other parents and their children, using your professional skill sets, becoming an integral part of the school family, modeling a spirit of service for your
 children, giving back to the school, and so much more. 
 
Clairbourn's Head of School, Dr. 
Patzlaff, will also speak on the topic of "Looking at the Year Ahead" and will be on hand to answer questions and greet parents after the meeting. Delicious refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you there! 

Cougar Corner Opening September 13

Please come out and join us for the opening of Cougar Corner at 2:45 pm on Friday, September 13. Meet our School Mascot Captain Cougar and get a free treat! (One per person) 
 

Volunteer at Cougar Corner

Parents, come volunteer to work a shift (one day a week) at Cougar Corner for the 1st quarter. All volunteers will be trained, get free day care for their children during their shift, and receive free beverages and snacks.  Shifts are from 2:45 pm to 3:30 pm from 09/13/2019-10/25/2019. Your Child's Cougar Corner Account

Parents, please provide funds for your child's Cougar Corner account. Cougar Corner is the snack shop that opens right after school where students can buy drinks or food. Visit the Clairbourn Online Store to fund your child's Cougar Corner account.
 
Time to Order Scrip
CFA is now accepting Scrip orders! CFA supports the school by selling scrip cards to be used at many food and retail businesses. Order forms are due Friday, September 27. School Reminders

Need Help Accessing Required Forms?

Almost all of our school forms are now signed digitally. The number of forms that need to be signed varies by grade level, but all families will have a few that need to be completed. In order to sign your forms, please do the following:
 
 
1. Log in to CougarNet by clicking the CougarNet/Login button in the upper-right corner of Clairbourn’s main website.
 
 
 
2. Enter your username and password. If you have forgotten or have never logged in, click the “Forgot login" or "first time logging in” link.
 
 
3. Once you are in, click the yellow banner that tells you what forms you need to sign.
 
 
4. SPECIAL ALERT TO PARENTS HAVING DIFFICULTIES SUBMITTING FORMS: If a form requires both parents' signatures, each parent must login separately on their own account in order to sign and finally submit the form. It is not possible for both parents to sign from a single login. Remember to click the "submit" button once you are done. 
 
5. If you have any issues or questions or need to resubmit a form, please email Mr. Millard at kmillard@clairbourn.org.
 

Directory Listings & Privacy 

Family Contact information is 
available digitally via your CougarNet account. We will not be printing a school Roster or Family Directory.
 
Viewing or Printing Directories:
  • Log in to your CougarNet account. 
  • Hover over the "Directories" button and select either students, parents, staff, or CFA.
  • Pick the directory you need. If you pick the student directory, choose your child's grade level. If you don't see it, expand the list.
  • To print a copy, click the printer icon above the directory menu and select "print search results".
Your Privacy Settings: 
Each parent is in charge of their own level of privacy for their personal information that can be seen by other members of the Clairbourn community online. Log in to CougarNet to set your preferences and decide what you want people at school to see about you.
1. Click on your name in the top right.
2. Pick "Settings".
3. Look for the "Privacy" link on the far left menu.
4. Make a privacy setting choice:
 
You will have three choices (listed below) - please select one in the CougarNet system:
 
1. Do not include my name or any information about me in the directory. (We DO NOT recommend this option as you will be invisible to the school - teachers, students, parents will not see you)
 
2. Include my name but do not include any other information about me.
 
3. Include my name and only the specific information selected below to those specific constituent types. (This is the recommended choice. Be sure to expand each option below and indicate what type of information you want each group to see about you).
 
> Student
> Teacher
> Parent
> Alumni
> Coach
> Non-Teaching Staff
> Trustee

Parent Contact Card Updates

Do you need to give us a new phone number, email, or address? Parents have control over their own information record in CougarNet. Changes must be made by each individual parent by logging in and accessing the "Profile" link which will take them to their Contact Card. You can find it by clicking on your name in the top right corner of your screen and then choosing "Profile").  Click the pencil icon next to the information you want to change and then save your changes. Please do not delete your address, you can hide it but do not delete it. 
 
Student Contact Card Updates:
To change each student's Contact Card, login to your CougarNet account, then choose the "Children" link at the top left of your screen. Click on your Child's name and then look for the "Contact Card" tab and then enter your edits.
 
Notification Settings:
On the CougarNet "Notifications" page, parents MUST keep the Bulk Email option checked or they won't get the eCourier emails from the school with important weekly updates.

Magnus Health Forms

Thank you all, Clairbourn Community, for getting your vaccination records turned in before the first day of school. However, this is just one step of the Magnus Health registration process. Please log in to your Magnus account to verify you have completed all the additional information that is needed. You can access the Magnus login on the Resource Page of your CougarNet account.
 
Staff Highlights 

Miss Newell Riding To Raise $ For Charity 

 
On October 9, Kindergarten Teacher Assistant Aimee Newell will participate in the 25th Annual Peak to Peak Pedal Event to raise funds for The United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC).  This life-changing adventure takes place over the course of five days and covers 335 miles, including two mountain ranges. All proceeds raised by Aimee, and other cyclists, supports USARC in their mission to help adults and children with all types of cognitive and physical disabilities to develop new skills and face challenges through outdoor recreation. You can click this donation link to sponsor Aimee and help support her fundraising efforts.

Atticus G.'s Career As A Child Star 

 
First-grader Atticus G. is a child model and actor. He played the lead in the Hollywood short film, "Love Never Forgets," which was selected by the Dance With Films Festival and premiered on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. He was also the lead model for Joy and Joa at Paris Fashion Week in October 2018 and the lead model for Sun Cun at China Fashion Week in March 2019. Additionally, he has done many TV interviews and has been featured in several newspapers and magazines. His recent titles and awards include, "Best Kids Performance in a Short Film" at the International Kids Film Festival, "Best Child Star" at the award ceremony for the Golden Statuette International Film Festival, and "Child Model of the Year" at IMTA, the most prestigious world-wide modeling and talent contest.
Summer Highlights

Welcoming New Kindergarten Families 

On Saturday, August 24, Claudia Jubilado and Dana Lee Wong hosted a welcome play date for seven new kindergarten families at PlayLab in Pasadena. A big welcome goes out to Clairbourn's new students and their families! 
 
New Photos and Videos
Parents can win a warm and waterproof outdoor blanket from Mambe by taking photos on campus and uploading them onto Vidigami in the album titled "Vidigami Photo Contest". The contest ends October 11 at 3 pm and it will be independently judged. Parents are encouraged to upload their photos into the album as often as they please. The winner will receive their choice of a size 5x7 blanket or a size 7x10 blanket, a retail value up to $150. 
 
This blanket will last a lifetime and is perfect for sports, beaches, parks, camping and more. It is waterproof, windproof, insulated, washable, versatile, and comes with an ultra-light stuff sack. It is made of Polartec® fleece on one side and waterproof nylon on the other side. If you are interested in purchasing the blanket, they can be bought on our school store (limited quantities available).
