This has been a great start to the school year! The students are happily learning in class, the social connections are growing, and we are seeing a wonderful group of new students being welcomed into the classes! I love it. We are already seeing excitement, progress, and growth.
The growth doesn't stop with the students. The transportation times have improved each day, and we are now approaching a normal timing. Thank you for your patience as we all get used to the new times, procedures, and requirements. Tardies are not marked at this time. Thank you to those who do NOT come early for the afternoon pickup. Cars needing to circle because their child is not out yet (thus going through the parking lot 2-5 times) clog the line. We also occasionally hear honking from Huntington when people make U-turns to cut in the line or block the street on Sunnyslope. If everyone does their part in being good neighbors and thoughtful, patient community members, we can continue to make improvements. Having sports, daycare, and after school classes starting spreads out the line a great deal, easing congestion in the afternoons, and eliminating repeat cars circling will help even more.
All traffic coming from the east on Huntington Dr. should do the U-turn at San Gabriel Blvd to join the line. Please DO NOT drive through the neighborhood on Sunnyslope or Vista. Please DO NOT make a U-turn or block the intersection across Sunnyslope. |
We are asking that parents continue to follow the school COVID protocols and not send students with food treats to share with the class(es). We hope we will be able to go back to sharing small treats for special occasions, but for now, we will celebrate in other ways.
Also a big shout out to the Student Council. They elected class reps this week, and I am proud of everyone who ran for one of these positions. Well done Middle School student Leaders with Heart!
