Getting Ready for School

Dear Clairbourn Families,

As we approach the start of school, we are so excited to see you all! We will be reuniting with returning families and welcoming new families and faculty. In this eCourier, we are introducing you to four new faculty members! These four have already been in their classrooms, participated in orientations, and are getting to know our community. They are already contributing their own brand of enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to our students. You are going to love them!

We are also mindful of maintaining the health and safety of our students and community. The current recommendations are to continue to restrict non-essential visitors to campus and to do regular COVID testing. We know that many of our new families have never been to campus, so we worked to find a way to allow our parents to have a campus experience with their children without causing crowds when the students are present. Our solution is to ask all families to follow a staggered schedule for the required COVID testing, and allow the families on that day to walk their children to the classrooms. We will also have used uniforms available for purchase. We ask all families to be masked the whole time they are on campus, regardless of vaccination status.

As recommended by the local health departments, we are requiring a negative COVID test for every student and employee prior to the start of school. To make this easier on our families, we are providing testing on August 23 at Clairbourn. The student tests will be a cheek swab evaluated by an FDA approved laboratory. They will have the tests results before our opening day. In the event you are unavailable to come to campus on August 23, you are required to get a test on your own and provide us results on the first day of school. NO STUDENT WILL BE ADMITTED TO SCHOOL ON AUGUST 26 WITHOUT A NEGATIVE TEST GIVEN WITHIN 72 HOURS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.  Times are staggered to prevent crowds. If you have more than one child, please bring both children at one time. If you absolutely can't come during your assigned time, you may come at another time. Please complete the required forms prior to arrival on campus to streamline the process for everyone. COVID testing schedules by grade and required forms to bring are included in the next School News section.

The same company has been contracted to do weekly surveillance testing for all students until the recommendations from the state change. The same forms will give consent to do this weekly testing. If you do not consent to have your child tested at school, you will be responsible for getting your child tested and providing the results to the school.

I can't wait to see you all soon!
