Time seems to have a different pace these days. I started this update for families yesterday, but today we have much different picture. Regardless of our own personal feelings about the decision, we now know what we will be doing.
At a noon press conference today, Governor Newsom spelled out the requirements for schools to be on campus or remote in the fall. The decisions are being driven by the data in each area, and we are in an area with troubling COVID numbers. For more information, follow this link to the

Although we all would love nothing more than a full return to school on campus, this isn’t an option for us right now. Clairbourn has been preparing for reopening but this is not currently possible.
Unfortunately, preschool is not successful in a remote learning format, and so we must make the very difficult decision to delay the start of our preschool program until a safe return to campus is possible. Because we are delaying the start of our preschool program, your tuition will be prorated to only include the days when we are in session. We will notify all of our preschool families as soon as we have permission to open on campus.
I know that for some that live with high risk factors, this comes as a great relief. For others who are struggling with a need for child care, this causes additional challenges. None of us volunteered for this situation, and each of us are experiencing it differently. Someone said, “We are all in the same storm, but we are in different boats.” Regardless of your current situation, Clairbourn stands ready to support your child’s education and celebrate our wonderful community when the time is right.
So for now, stay strong, and know you are valued members of the Clairbourn Family.
