Message To The School Community
Dear Clairbourn Family,
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and I have been so happy to celebrate our amazing teachers with you. I have received many wonderful notes expressing gratitude for the ways that our teachers have made a difference in the lives of the students. You have been posting lovely notes in the Vidigami folders and those are priceless. Some of the notes and videos have made me smile right back at the grins on the children’s faces, some are quite clever, and some have been incredibly touching. I have loved each one and, more importantly, so have the teachers. You have been filling their buckets and mine!
Keep up the gratitude and growth. Don’t forget to keep posting your images to represent the learning from home. We love to see your smiling faces!

CFA News
This Week Is Teacher Appreciation Week
We love our Clairbourn teachers and appreciate all the work they have been putting into the remote learning lessons. Let’s show them how much they mean to us. There are simple things you can do to show your teachers how special they are like drawing a picture, writing a note, or making a video. We've made Vidigami albums for each teacher, teaching assistant, and specialist so you can post thank-you messages.
(Anyone wishing to thank a staff member or administrator can look for and use the special group folders).
End Of The Year Teacher Gifts
At the end of each school year, CFA organizes a gift-card drive to make it easier for parents to show their appreciation. The Teacher Appreciation Group Gift Card Program allows you to participate in a class gift for your children's teachers. It also allows you to acknowledge other members of the Clairbourn community who interact with your children outside the classroom.
This year, we are giving Clairbourn faculty and staff Amazon gift cards, and families can contribute toward the purchase of those cards. The gift card will be distributed directly to the teachers at the end of May. Click here to purchase. Deadline: Friday, May 15th. Questions: Connie Kim
Safe@Home Virtual Carnival

Caring For Our Families
Need A Morale Boost? Help Is Right At Home
Clairbourn School students already know a lot about doing good deeds and alleviating distress in the community, and many of them are supporting healthcare workers and first-responders. But there is now a new frontline in the larger battle which is our very own doorsteps. These times call for a deeper level of service to precious family members who we often take for granted. The need of the hour is to make family care and balance a priority. So take a moment to imagine, how quickly the atmosphere in your home would change if you could take a tip from the military and assigned a Morale Officer to take care of each person in the family?

Algebra Students Learn By Dancing
Middle School Math teacher Mrs Messler used dance as a new and fun way to engage and teach her Algebra students. Mrs. Messler found a popular TikTok dance that the students liked, and she made up her own dance version of it to teach her students about parent functions. The dance was a unique way for students to learn the shapes that each of the parent functions make when they are graphed on a coordinate plane. Watch the video below!

The Case For Morning Assembly & Chapel
When student are treated like computers to be “loaded,” and are shaped into impressive towers of narrowly-focused achievement, there is an associated risk of their tower crumbling to the ground when life gets difficult. In order to build a student that will withstand the challenges of life, there needs to be an ongoing, sincere investment in the qualities, habits, and connections that build true resilience and that will carry them through major challenges like the current COVID-19 pandemic.
