Our Vibrant Community and School Life

Dear Clairbourn Families,

Next week will be a big one for our JPK-5th graders. They will be rehearsing their songs, practicing entrances and exits, and learning to watch Mrs. Kiertzner for their cues and timing. It is different watching her while in a classroom setting with fewer distractions. Really focusing during exciting and distraction-filled events is quite a skill, and the students are working on building it through this process. (I know a lot of adults who are still working on it too!) You can help your children by encouraging them to put in the work to focus during rehearsals and do their best. I am excited to see the results next week. Keep up the good work, Cougars.

Yesterday, we celebrated Administrative Professionals Day and expressed our gratitude for the wonderful work of Ms. Carolyn Morales and Mrs. Michelle Cogswell. They are both great examples of joy, dedication, compassion, and kindness. I am so grateful for the work they do behind the scenes. You may not know all the things they do, but trust me, you would know if they didn't do their jobs so well. If you see them, be sure to thank them for all they do.

April Sustainable Energy Design Challenge

To celebrate Earth Day, middle school students were challenged to build a device using solar power to melt an M&M candy. Despite some occasional clouds getting in the way, the students persevered to design and build solar melting devices from CDs, strawberry baskets, clothespins, and other reusable materials.

Earth Day is a great day to think about how we can protect and appreciate our beautiful planet all year, and the middle school students showed how to creatively use sustainable energy and materials. Well done!

Here is a list of our April Drop and Build teams who melted the most M&Ms: sixth grade (tie) - Isabella & Luke, Jaden & Carson, seventh grade - Shogo & Damien, and eighth grade - Justin & Joshua. Congratulations, Cougars!
