From Head of School

Welcome Back, Cougars!

Dear Clairbourn Families,

Yesterday was College Dress Day and it was fun to see the variety of colleges and universities represented. It is just another example of the work the Student Council is doing to bring our community together to have fun. Stickers were available for any student who didn't have a college shirt, allowing everyone to participate. This kind of extra thought and effort to ensure everyone is included is a great example of our student leaders showing heart. Great job Student Council!

I also saw some of the CFA officers today working on wrapping up the auction. They were pleased with the generous support from our families and are now shifting their focus to the Spring Carnival. This looks like it will be a great community building event for everyone! Thanks CFA for the hard work, planning, inspiration, and Clairbourn spirit!

Clairbourn Highlight

First Graders Build a Bunny Burrow

The first grade participated in a design challenge to build a burrow to protect a bunny from the spring rain. The bunny had to enter and leave the burrow. Students were given a variety of materials including aluminum foil, wax paper, plastic wrap, toilet paper rolls, unifix cubes, pipe cleaners, and construction paper. They worked in small groups and everyone did a great job while engaging with each other!
Student Council

Thank you for participating in our College Dress Day!

To celebrate College Day, Student Council took on a fun project to interview the faculty and staff about their college years! Here are a few fun facts: Many of our teachers went to private schools in California. USC is a 4-year university in Los Angeles where Mrs. Messler, Mrs. Corwin, Mrs. Rubio, Mr. Jubilado, and Mrs. Drazic attended. Dr. Patzlaff got her doctorate at the University of La Verne, where Mrs. Paciorek and Mrs. Taylor also attended. Principia College is a school in Elsah, Illinois, where a lot of our teachers/faculty attended, including Mr. and Mrs. Ball, Ms. Edwards, Mrs. DeVasto, Mrs. Elmore, Mrs. Shoemake, Mrs. Taylor, and Dr. Patzlaff! I bet you didn’t know that Dr. Patzlaff and Mrs. DeVasto were roommates in college!

To read more about the rest of the faculty and where they went for college, make sure to check the poster display by the reception office!

Inspiration from Jackie Robinson

This inspiring collection pays tribute to baseball legend and civil rights hero Jackie Robinson. Jackie's daughter, Sharon, acts as a personal tour guide through the nine heartfelt, hard-won values that helped her father achieve his goals. Jackie's values are brought to life through the powerful words of other legends, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Christopher Reeve.
