Katherine X. Inspires Others To Volunteer

Preschool student Katherine X. and her mother Yue Ma have been organizing volunteer activities with other Clairbourn preschool families after school hours. Yue Ma is a trained pick leader for the The Backyard Harvest Program which is a flagship program run by the Los Angeles charity agency Food Forward. As members of the volunteer program, Yue Ma and Katherine pick fruit from trees on private properties and public spaces. The harvested fruit is then donated to local hunger relief agencies such as The Foothill Unity Center. Over the last two weeks, there were two spectacular harvests in which Yue Ma, Katherine, and other Clairbourn families came together to pick and donate the fruit. The kids learned valuable lessons about gratitude and the importance of volunteering. They also learned that helping others can be fun when it comes from one’s heart and with good intention.
