Possible Exposure to COVID-19

Dear Clairbourn parents, staff and community members:

As we deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, one of our responsibilities is to communicate transparently with you when our community is impacted. Nothing is more important to Clairbourn than the safety and health of our students, our employees and their families.

Last night, we learned a student in KG tested positive for COVID-19 after developing symptoms on Friday evening. An asymptomatic specialist teacher also tested positive after being alerted to an exposure unrelated to school. This means that we must inform all families where there is a possible exposure.
  • Preschool: Not exposed
  • KG - Potential exposure
  • KB - Not exposed
  • 1G & 1B - Not exposed
  • 2G & 2B - Potential exposure
  • 3rd - Potential exposure
  • 4th - Potential exposure
  • 5th - Potential exposure
  • 6th-8th - Not exposed
  • Students absent on Jan 6 & 7 - Not exposed
As more cases are being confirmed across the state, it is important to continue to remain vigilant. The CDC recommends the following best practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

All close contacts must be notified and upon notification should monitor symptoms and mask around others for 10 days. If not fully vaccinated and boosted (if eligible) exposed people must stay home and isolate for 5 days. On day 5, the exposed person should have an antigen or PCR test done in a healthcare setting or certified testing site, and if negative may return to activities but must remain masked around others until day 10.

In this case, the possible exposure was on Thursday, Jan. 6 or Friday, Jan 7. Friday is day 0 in the count. All unvaccinated students must stay home and work independently on assignments. Watch for an email from your teacher on how to complete these assignments. On Day 5, January 12, students may be tested with an antigen or PCR test done in a healthcare setting or certified testing site (not a home test). If the test is negative, students are clear to come back to school on Day 6, January 13. If any students start to exhibit symptoms, they should be tested immediately and report the results to the health office.

All students who are quarantining at home may come to school for Drive-through COVID testing on Monday January 10 and Thursday, January 13.
  • Kindergarten and 2nd grade should come between 10:30am and 11:30am.
  • 3rd — 5th should come between 1pm — 2:30pm.
  • Students may also get tested at another site if they choose.
Fully vaccinated and boosted (if eligible) students are not required to quarantine, but are required to mask around others at all times.

IF YOU HAVE NOT UPLOADED YOUR CHILD’S VACCINATION CARD INTO MAGNUS, PLEASE DO SO BEFORE RETURNING TO SCHOOL.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and new loss of taste or smell. If you or any member of your family exhibit these symptoms, you are encouraged to get tested immediately.

Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, staff and community members. As a result Clairbourn will be testing twice a week through the end of January. Thank you for your support of the Clairbourn Family.

Sincerely,
Amy Patzlaff, Ed.D.
